Part 1: Mindful Luxury and the Future of Fashion
Fashion is the second largest pollutant in the world after oil and gas industry. Today, every year 150 billion garments are produced annually, that’s enough to provide each one of you and me, and the entire planet, 20 new garments a year!
This should be a reminder to each one of us, what Mahatma Gandhi said three-quarters of a century ago: “The world has enough for everyone’s needs, but not everyone’s greed”. With the onslaught of fast fashion, the role of mindfulness is critical for the future of fashion, luxury, and environment.
Part 2: Vogue Editorials and Mindful Luxury
Bandana will demonstrate the power of culture, creativity, and compassion with the help of three Vogue India editorials titled:
1. Project Renaissance – a story about the collaboration between hand-made textiles-makers from India and top international designers of today (Burberry, Gucci, Fendi, Ferragamo, Hermes, Christian Louboutin, etc).
2. Project Red – When red colored hand-made fabrics became a symbol of empowerment in Vogue’s Empowerment Issue.
3. The Traveling Jacket – 6 designers in 6 countries collaborate to create one stunning jacket- a symbol of creativity without borders.
This is a free event and open to the public.
